Pea protein isolate (85% to 90%) is a plant-based ingredient with particularly high protein content and a strong amino acid profile (e.g. rich in lysine). This makes it an excellent substitute for soy proteins or potato proteins. Pea protein isolate is manufactured from yellow or green peas. The peas are cleaned, de-hulled, and grounded. Afterwards, the starch component is then removed using a liquid filtration process, leaving a protein-rich product. This is then dried and standardized, resulting in a cream-yellowish powder with a neutral taste and a characteristic smell.
